If you keep up with Microsoft products, you’re likely familiar with Microsoft Ignite. This annual conference generates numerous updates and announcements in the Microsoft world. The recent conference in October 2022 had many highlights, and if you missed some of them, here’s a rundown of the most significant ones.
Microsoft Teams, the virtual workspace app, received much attention during the event. With over 280 million users and more than 450 new features introduced in the last year, Microsoft has declared Teams as “the app at the centre of Microsoft 365“. In this blog post, we’ll highlight some of the exciting Teams features, along with other Microsoft app announcements from Ignite.
Teams Premium
Microsoft has introduced Teams Premium, a new offering that brings an AI component to the platform. The service includes several AI-powered features that make it feel like you have a personal meeting assistant. The features include automatically generating chapters from a Teams meeting, personalized highlights, real-time translation for captions in international meetings, and a meeting guide that sets up meeting options based on your needs.
SmartVision 60
SmartVision 60 is the first 360-degree, centre-of-room intelligent camera that can track the speaker as they move. The camera also has the capability to recognize people and is expected to have this feature soon. With SmartVision 60, virtual meetings can feel much more like real meetings, as the camera can capture a whole team, not just one person.
Cisco as a Certified Devices Partner:
Fans of Cisco meeting products will be pleased to know that Cisco is now a Teams Room Certified Devices partner. This means you can start Teams meetings across all certified Cisco meeting devices.
Microsoft Places
Microsoft Places is a team management app that integrates with the rest of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. It’s a virtual workspace app that supports the new hybrid movement, and with 74% of US companies putting in place a permanent hybrid work model, Microsoft Places is a way to lead the hybrid office revolution. The app allows you to manage and track where employees are working, track coworkers’ availability, track physical room use, and make strategic decisions.
Hours & Location Feature in Outlook & Teams
With the hours and location feature, scheduling in-person meetings just got easier. The feature allows people to specify where they are working, from hour to hour, taking the guesswork out of scheduling.
Loop App Private Preview
Microsoft announced the private preview of Loop, a collaborative workspace app that helps teams ideate in a virtual space. The app syncs all data from Microsoft 365 apps automatically to stay up to date.
